Retinal Imaging

At Ottica Perri Optometrists we are proud to announce the inclusion of Retinal Imaging Scan as an integral part of your comprehensive eye exam. This technology does not require pupil dilation. This Retinal examination will be performed as an enhancement to the comprehensive examination for a fee of $38 and $28 for pensioners and students. This additional test is recommended for the following reasons: - It provides an in depth view of the retinal tissue (where disease can start) - It assists in detecting: Macular Degeneration, Diabetic and Hypertensive Retinopathy, Glaucoma and other diseases of the eyes. A retinal image is a digital image taken of your retina, which is the light-sensing tissue that lines the inside of your eye. A healthy retina is absolutely essential for maintaining normal vision. Your images enable the optometrist to detect even subtle changes in your retina and optic nerve. Each time you have an examination, these images are evaluated and by comparing prior images we can detect small changes in the retina or optic nerve at the earliest possible point. This is extremely important in the detection of common and devastating eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and melanoma cancer.
